VTEX, a robust e-commerce platform, announced on Monday, September 2nd, the acquisition of Weni.
With this acquisition, Weni becomes Weni by VTEX, independent business unit with the goal of strengthening and boosting VTEX’s technologies and portfolio by integrating Weni Platform solutions throughout the entire shopping journey.
Weni brings its expertise in artificial intelligence and automation to Customer Experience strategies, such as engagement, conversion, and post-sales, enabling VTEX to offer a more personalized and aligned service experience that meets each customer’s needs.
All founders — Leandro Neves, John Cordeiro, Daniel Amaral, Bruno Amaral, and Rinaldo Amaral—will remain with VTEX as executives of Weni.
In addition to leveraging its base in Brazil, where Weni already serves major clients like the Prezunic supermarket chain, Cencosud, and key players such as Stone and Raízen, VTEX plans to bring Weni’s solutions to the North American market.
According to Alexandre Soncini, VTEX co-founder and chief of staff: “When a customer makes a monthly shopping list on Prezunic’s e-commerce platform and selects a product from a specific brand, but during order preparation that brand’s product is unavailable, the store’s system sends a notification to Weni, which then sends a WhatsApp message to the customer asking if a substitution can be made. This solution could make perfect sense for the clients we have in the U.S.”
This strategy is part of a broader move by VTEX to expand its international presence, with a particular focus on the supermarket sector in the United States, where it sees great potential for Weni’s innovative solutions.
The integration of Weni’s technologies with the VTEX platform promises not only to improve support for current customers but also to open new opportunities for growth and innovation in the global e-commerce market, increasingly focused on customer experience and needs.
